As of 31 October 2025, the Croatian Law Centre is implementing the project “Legal Counselling in the Procedure for Granting International Protection”, financed by the European Union Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF).
The project is focused on providing legal counselling to applicants for international protection, as well as to special guardians and guardians of unaccompanied minors who are applicants, in accordance with the Act on International and Temporary Protection.
The objective of the project is to contribute to the effective protection of the rights and interests of applicants for international protection during the procedure for granting such protection, and to support the realization of the constitutional principle of equality.
Project activities include the provision of legal information and counselling regarding the procedure for granting international protection, the rights and obligations of applicants, and the possibilities for obtaining free legal aid. In cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior, an informational leaflet will be developed and printed, explaining the ways and conditions for exercising the right to legal counselling. The material will be translated into several languages and made available at the locations where activities are carried out, as well as on the Croatian Law Centre’s website.
The project also includes group counselling sessions, where information is provided on the importance of individual procedural actions within the international protection process, as well as presentations of the project in reception centres and at locations where border asylum procedures are conducted.
By implementing this project, the Croatian Law Centre contributes to enhancing the transparency and efficiency of the international protection procedure and to improving access to legal assistance for persons seeking protection in the Republic of Croatia.
