On 26 November 2025, the Croatian Law Centre, as an implementing partner and with the financial support of UNHCR, organised a meeting of the Coordination for Asylum within the project Legal Assistance and Capacity Building on Access to Territory in Croatia. The meeting was held at the premises of the Croatian Red Cross in Zagreb and brought together representatives of key institutions and organisations involved in the international protection system.
The central topic of the meeting was Protection of Unaccompanied Children from Recent Practice of Actors in the Asylum System. The topic was introduced by representatives of the Ministry of the Interior, the Office of the Ombudsperson for Children, UNICEF Office for Croatia, the Community Services Centre Zagreb – Dugave, and the Croatian Red Cross.
During the meeting, participants exchanged experiences from recent practice and highlighted opportunities to further strengthen standards for the protection of unaccompanied children in Croatia.
They emphasised the importance of continuous dialogue and joint action by all relevant actors to ensure comprehensive and effective support for unaccompanied children, with full respect of their rights and best interests.
