At the invitation of the Embassy of India in Zagreb, the Croatian Law Centre took part on 24 September 2025 in an Open House held at the HKD Napredak venue. The event was organised in cooperation with the Embassy and the Croatia–India Society, as part of the thematic activities under the “Viksit Bharat Run” initiative dedicated to empowering the Indian diaspora.
At the gathering, Ambassador Arun Goel and representatives of the Embassy held an open dialogue with members of the Indian community in Croatia, discussing consular matters as well as the challenges and needs of Indian nationals living and working in Croatia.
The programme also featured Croatian experts in the fields of law, migration, integration, and the labour market. Sunčica Brnardić, Executive Secretary for Labour Law and the Labour Market at the Union of Autonomous Trade Unions of Croatia, Dr Margareta Gregurović of the Institute for Migration and Ethnic Studies, and Željka Đurić of the City of Zagreb’s One-Stop Shop presented their experiences and perspectives on the position of foreign workers and issues of integration into Croatian society.
In addition, Croatian Law Centre lawyer Lucija Koren delivered a lecture on the legal framework governing employment relations of third-country nationals in the Republic of Croatia, with a focus on the rights and obligations of foreign workers and the mechanisms for protecting their labour and social rights.
The discussion covered consular services, the employment of foreign workers, labour legislation, social integration, and the promotion of human rights. The meeting took place in an encouraging and open atmosphere, with participants exchanging experiences and useful information.
The Croatian Law Centre thanks the Embassy of India for the invitation and the opportunity to contribute to this valuable event, which fosters mutual understanding, cooperation, and knowledge sharing in the field of protecting the rights of migrants and foreign workers in Croatia.
