The project “Legal counselling in the procedure for granting international protection in 2021” has been implemented from February 19th, 2022 to March 31st 2023, financed from the European Union Fund for Asylum, Migration and Integration (AMIF).

The project enabled provision of legal counselling for the applicants for international protection in accordance with the provisions of the Act on International and Temporary Protection during the international protection approval process, in order to protect their rights and interests. In addition, the special focus of the project was on unaccompanied children, and in order to contribute to the more efficient and high-quality realization of the rights of unaccompanied children, the Croatian Law Centre communicated with centres for social welfare throughout Croatia and provided legal assistance to the guardians of unaccompanied children seeking international protection. The main goal of the Project was to contribute to the effective protection of the rights and interests of applicants for international protection in the process of applying for international protection and to the realization of the constitutional principle of equality.

Within the Project, the Croatian Law Centre carried out the following activities:

  • general legal information related to the international protection approval procedure;
  • legal information about the right to work and the right to free legal aid to applicants for international protection;
  • legal and procedural information on the approval of international protection related to the specific request of the applicant for international protection, including the reasons for the rejection of the request was rejected and the possibility of using a legal remedy;
  • workshops on rights, obligations and the importance of individual actions in the international protection approval process,
  • informational materials and brochures regarding the ways and conditions of exercising the right to legal advice,
  • mobile application on the main features of the international protection approval procedure in the Republic of Croatia and ways of exercising the rights of applicants for international protection in practice.
