The Action Plan of the City of Zagreb for the Implementing of the Charter of Integrating Cities for 2023 and 2024 includes the activity of establishing a One-Stop Shop, a central point for providing relevant information and services to refugees and migrants. On this occasion, on March 12 2024, UNHCR and the City of Zagreb jointly organized an education for future staff and volunteers of the One-Stop Shop.
Together with Croatian Law Centre, representatives from civil society organizations in the asylum system – the Center for Peace Studies, the Croatian Red Cross, and the Jesuit Refugee Service shared with the participants their experience in working with refugees and foreign workers.
The topics covered in the education included the rights and obligations of refugees and applicants for international protection; communication with forcibly displaced persons; empowerment and assistance to refugees and applicants for international protection in employment; response to gender-based violence and trafficking in persons, and frequently asked questions in working with foreign workers.
